    Renovation Diary: Plumbing Underway!

Plumbing work is well underway in the house! All of the pipes have been replaced, sump pump is in, new lines for the washer/dryer are complete…and my 6′ tub is in and it actually looks good in the space. Thank god!

In other news…my vanity finally arrived from Lowe’s. Third time was the charm to receive a vanity that was neither chipped nor stained. Hooray!

I’ve also learned that shopping for a tub control/shower head combo at any major retailer is a waste of time. After countless trips to Home Depot, Menard’s and Lowe’s – where I found nothing that fit the aesthetic that I was going for, or that matched my tile – I walked into Community Home Supply on Lincoln Avenue. 10 minutes later, we figured out the *exact* finish that would look good with the tile. Easy as pie!

Unfortunately it cost me $1,100 for a custom order – about $900 more than I would have paid at those big box retailers. Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Here is a pic of the set (it’s been ordered in gun metal…stay tuned for pictures when it arrives in 6 weeks).
