This is a no brainer, right? Before you start seriously shopping for a home, secure your financing. Speak with a lender and get pre-approved for your mortgage. Or, if you plan on paying cash, make sure your funds are liquid (or can easily be converted to liquid or accessed). You may fall in love with the first home you see, and may need (or want) to submit an offer right away to secure it. You don’t want anything to slow you down, most of all financing. Remember that many sellers will not even show their homes unless you already have this in place (my selling clients request pre-approved buyers only). Be ready to jump!
